It’s the story of a man with no scientific background using sheer wealth to make more experienced people create something to his inexperienced specifications. A manchild who may not be consciously malicious and is fully convinced he’s making the world a better place, but has no healthy respect for the natural world and no concern for the potential danger to human life nor the environmental ramifications.
It’s not dinosaurs, but we’ve now lived to see people actually get wealthy enough to do things that big and they are every bit as foolish and doomed. I wish it could have at least been dinosaurs.
The book gets further into this, his cutting corners, his exploitation of workers, all the little penny pinching and why it fucked the whole operation. Dennis Nedry shutting off the security may be what sets the plot in motion but it’s clear that if he hadn’t it would only have been a matter of time, and after his exploitation by Hammond he’s almost a working class hero.
Also not as related but in the book Muldoon wasn’t allowed to have assault rifles and shotguns like in the movie because that would risk the investments, but he was allowed to have a tranquilizer rifle and some rocket launchers. Which means the finale involves rocket launchers and thirty velociraptors. And Hammond being eating by those little dinosaurs from the second movie.
Compsognathus! Or compies for short. I loved those little guys, adorable little murder reptiles. They were the perfect depiction of why you should respect nature, no matter how small and harmless something appears to be. Nature is vicious, and will absolutely retaliate if you attack it enough.
They were also the perfect way to kill Hammond. It wasn’t something big like the T Rex, it was something he’d deemed unimportant, a little reptile who’s bite dulls your senses and puts you to sleep. So as he was being eaten, just like when everyone was dying, he didn’t care.

I’m not sure if Jack Black is escorting her, it might be the other way around, as Lucy Liu proudly leads him along with her, confident she has the best possible person by her side.
